If there was one person living in The Grand who should have been born at heights of its fame and glory it would be Dr Emre Araci, composer and music historian, but most importantly, the author of ‘The Grand Revisited’ – the only completed 20th century history of our mesmerising building.
In our first Grand Expert talk, we welcomed Dr Emre Araci to guide us through mysterious, moving, extravagant, and simply fabulous stories from 120 years of The Grand.
Most of us know that some very impressive characters have visited and even resided in the building, but only Emre can call them out from their ghostly corners and bring them back to life in a marvellous talk he did to the audience of over 35 people who gathered in The Green Room, ignoring the sad March weather outside.
His presentation included quotes from distinguished historical figures describing the time they spent at The Grand and reminding us how lucky we are to have this place still standing strong and creative in the heart of Folkestone. In the video below you can hear more about the book (available in Waterstones and online) and join us in admiring the charisma and passion of Dr Emre Araci:
Dr Araci, The Grand is lucky to have you.
